International Conference: Optimising Infrastructure and Technology

Building Partnership for Innovation in Water, Energy and Food

25 November 2013

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the International Water Association (IWA) are pleased to announce the 2014 International Conference on Optimising Infrastructure and Technology to Build Partnerships for Water, Energy, and Food Security. The conference will take place in Beijing, China, between 11-13 November 2014.

The conference is a three day event providing the opportunity to catalyse development through infrastructure and technology solutions for optimisation around nexus issues. Through a series of technical sessions and focused workshops, conference participants will develop a series of evidence-based policy recommendations. The conference will be a major milestone in creating new pathways for water infrastructure planning, investments and operations to meet the integrated challenge of water, energy and food security.

The Nexus Dialogue forces us to challenge the way we manage water for multiple uses. It pushes us to forge partnerships and proposals to move forward in designing and setting up solutions across the nexus. Sharing experience and practical know-how across professional fields including farming, energy-production, natural resource management, and engineering, we can improve in water infrastructure optimisation to meet future water energy and food needs.

Conference themes:
  • Using the nexus to accelerate development
  • Cleantech nexus infrastructure and technology solutions
  • Influencing pathways of investments for nexus infrastructure and technology
  • Collaboration and institutional arrangements for a nexus approach
