Nexus Dialogue will organize a workshop in IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition on Wednesday, September 24th, 2014, Lisbon, Portugal

Water, energy and food are essential for human wellbeing and sustainable development. Demand for all three will increase significantly under the pressure of population growth, economic development, technological changes and climate change. The Water-Energy-Food nexus has led to new demands for infrastructure and technology to ensure security, and to balance competing demands on natural resources whilst maintaining sustainable landscapes.

How do we optimise resources to secure water, food and energy requirements in the long-term? IWA World Water Congress is creating a good platform for Nexus Dialogue to further enlight innovative thinking and promote constructive discussion. IUCN and IWA will convene the Workshop:Solutions Across the Water-Energy-Food Nexus during the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition on Wednesday, September 24th, 2014  .

The workshop will bring together leading experts active in nexus research and in particular focus on Cleantech across infrastructure systems supporting the water, energy and food sectors.  You can hear Rodrigo Villarroel Walker from University of Georgia, USA,presenting on innovative Cleantech that recover nitrogen and phosphorus and Brian Mergelas from WaterTap, Canada,  discussing about success factors for promoting and financing Cleantech that supports water-energy-food nexus solutions. CH2M Hill and other technology companies and international organizations such as GIZ, UNECE and IUCN will also come to share their experiences.
